Avoiding the obvious…

As a photographer I notice how much repetition there is among photographers, sure the people change but the setups and ideas are the same. This is can be necessary since going against the grain can often look ridiculous rather than tasteful.

Recently Claire and Franco, friends of mine requested I shoot a few maternity photos before Claire ”pops” I was aware that they have no idea what the sex of the child is but they include him/her in conversation as though he/she was born long ago… I wanted to somehow get a “personality” across in the photos too.

Always thinking against the obvious, the “Happy face” came to me quite literally while I was on my way to the shoot, since I did not have anything to write or paint with and it needed to come off easily we used Bovril. It worked perfectly!
