I often stare into blank space trying to think of new shots to do at weddings. After watching a film a few weeks ago (I can’t recall which) I came up with the idea of doing a shot with the groom and his best men standing in a formation making them look ready to conquer… “Go fourth and conquer” so to speak.
Of course as it happens many of the shots we come up with in our heads as photographers very often can’t be used until the right time and of course there is no way of controlling when the right time will be.
My “Go fourth and Conquer” shot got shelved for a few weeks until I did Jesse and Catherine’s wedding recently. Jesse is a big guy! I made a point of staying on his good side in case I ever needed a giant on my side (Just kidding Jesse… but really can I call you if I need to?)
A few shots in the howling wind later I had it, I don’t know how appropriate it is for a wedding but it’s still pretty cool and the guys remind me of a bunch of American football giants, you know, the ones you see tackling ESPN staff in their offices on TV.
