The other day I was dropping off a video I’d rented, outside the store was a young homeless guy sitting on the ground begging. I noticed he had on these huge lensless glasses, reacting quickly I fetched my camera from the car.
I asked him if he wanted to make R10.00… the look on his face! “For what!” one photo I said. Poor guy, he probably thought i had something else in mind, these guys live a hard life and they are often abused or solicited by less than savory people taking advantage of their desperate situation. When he realized there was nothing suspicious about my offer he was totally into it.
I used a red wall at the KFC next door as background, I chose it not only because it was such a great colour but the opposite wall was in full sun and was basically a huge reflector bouncing soft light forward, 5 shots later and viola!
