Brides always worry about the rain when it comes to weddings in Cape Town, I’ve done over 200 weddings (some in the height of winter) and to date the rain has never stopped me from shooting outside, but there is always a first and this Saturday was it! It rained and rained without so much as a moment’s gap!

The shot of the church is very deceiving, it was pouring and to tell you the truth I was really worried about my camera when I got inside! I always work with two camera’s so it would not have affected Steve and Emma if something did go wrong.

When we arrived at the reception venue I tried to convince

Emma that it was only a little water but she was having none of  it! I was disappointed and mumbled something like “chicken” under my breath as we abandoned the idea, I was glad Steve did not hear, he’s a big guy ;)

Emma and Steve had Chosen Steenberg Country estate, a southern Suburbs Wedding Venue, well actually they do weddings as well but it’s also a stunning golf course.

Steenberg estate has mountains all round, vineyards, lavishly decorated lounges and beautiful gardens, this makes it one of my top ten wedding venues for photography in Cape Town, the strange thing is this was also the first time I’d done a wedding there.

Emma had seen some of my “nightshots” where I do a few more dramatic studio type photographs later in the evening, she insisted I do some for her, I love doing them so who was I to argue! For Steve we decided on a brandy shot around the bar. We got the perfect shot and not a moment too soon, Steve and the Groomsmen were rearing to get the party going and bolted moments later.

Steve and Emma were great and their guests were more a group of close friends than anything else. As you can imagine such a tight nit bunch ripped up the dance floor from the moment the DJ fired up the turntables, I love energy in a wedding it means more photos and makes my job more exciting too!

Well done Greg these pictures are incredible. Proof that no bride should ever worry about the weather as long as she has a fantastic photographer. PS make-up doesn’t look too shabby!

Regards Shevaun
