A few months ago I had the pleasure of being the official wedding photographer for Graeme Smith and Morgan Deane here in Cape Town! When the original booking was made I had no idea who it was for, I was booked by Kirsti Lyall PR and Events for a “wedding” and that was it. I’m usually booked months to years in advance, sometimes this is before even meeting the clients. Closer to the date Kirsti revealed the wedding was for Graeme Smith and Morgan Deane…. wow!
At first I was not allowed to tell anyone I was going to be shooting their celbrity wedding so it was hard to keep my mouth shut when other cape town wedding photographers started pondering who Graeme and Morgan’s photographer might be, I was so proud, who wouldn’t be! I had no idea I was so good at keeping secrets!! I would have been a brilliant spy!
I loved this wedding!! I really enjoyed working with Graeme and Morgan although I have to admit a little daunting, I mean was I going to have to “direct” the Captain of the South African Cricket team during a couple shoot… turns out Graeme and Morgan let me do what I do best….
Graeme was relaxed and easy to work with while Morgan was like a supermodel, the camera took over almost shooting on it’s own, everything flowed, any wedding photographer will tell you there is nothing better! I was also so pleased that the couple were open to a few of the more unusual creative wedding pictures that I love doing… I could have shot for hours… I could have ;-) but we quickly ran out of time and it was off to Suikerbossie for the reception!
The pictures are some of my proudest and I say that regardless of who my subjects were.
The one thing that struck me was that although this was a very high profile wedding it was very relaxed and all about family and friends, a perfect mix!
In case you are wondering the ceremony was at the St Bernards Church in Claremont and the reception held at Suikerbossie near Llandudno.
Thank you for looking and I’d love to “hear” your comments :-)
Greg.

Well done Greg, some awesome shots.
great pics Greg. The dress looks fantastic. My wife did a superb job.
Great work Greg, as always. You have some very awesome pics from the Vineyard Hotel, I especially like the one with the veil in the wind and the one where they are sitting on the stairs. I’m sure you have some super stoked clients!
Absolutely stunning photographs. I especially like the one with the bridesmaid and the bride in the car.

Hi Peter, yes they were! It have to say I was nervous for a while because they took a long time to know how they felt about them … I chewed my nails off in the meantime!
Definitely!
Thank you Jilda!!!! I hear we are not seeing you on Sunday, putting family before us… humph! ;-)
Hey Greg! Your work just seems to get better all the time. The technical issues like composition, exposure, movement etc. are great, but what I really love is the way you always capture a mood, not to mention the phenomenal way you play with light!
