When taking detail photos it’s so easy to simply shoot “crime scene” style, “Aarg” point camera at object press button make foto…ooogha ooogha uuurrrghhhh now must hunt mammoth with pointy stick (I feel a Larson cartoon coming on!) unless I’m really pushed for time a little creative experimentation is in order.
I was shooting “detail” shots for Kate (the bride) when I asked her about the rather expensive looking “red box” branded “Rigby Peller” with “By Appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Corsetieres” written on it. Kate told me it was for the Garter no less and a very well made garter it was… try as I may though I can’t imagine phrases like “Queen Elizabeth II” and “Bridal Garter” working comfortably in the same sentence!
Well since it unofficially “abstract” week for “photo of the day” I decided to run with it, I went out today and bought myself a beret and a pipe, my intention is to hang out at art galleries next week and speak about “what the artist was thinking at that moment” that and to actually pretend that I get Jackson Pollock’s work.
Okay now I just can’t help myself, it’s clearly “abstract” week!! I got this pretty cool shot for Lauren owner of the Picnic Company a few years ago. Lauren wanted food related images that included her company’s corporate colours. We took a glass bottle dipped it into some gloss green paint that Lauren had on a shelf and then carefully put the berries in the bottle (NB!
