When I was up in Johannesburg shooting Courtenay and Mikes wedding at the Westcliff hotel I managed to get this shot, working with Courtenay was really great I’m used to helping people along in front of the camera… I felt a little lost with Courtenay because she did most of the work…

Lindie contacted me about a month ago, she loved my photos and was very disappointed that I was not available for her wedding date, in  the end she moved a few things around and decided to do an aftershoot with me for her main wedding photos, what an incredible compliment!

We shot at the University of Cape Town (UCT) this Sunday, it was such a pleasure to work with Kobus and Lindie!

In most cases I’m under huge pressure to create magic in an hour which I totally understand (you don’t want to let your guests get bored while the photographer keeps the happy couple away from them), because Lindie and Kobus had chosen to do an aftershoot  instead we had  more time to make magic.

When working with a couple I work with what works for them, most are not comfortable with modeling but some are… Lindie is not a model boy did she just have a knack for posing! I picked up on this and decided to work with it wohoo fashion styled wedding photos, British Vogue here I come… wow wow wow!!!!

I’ve finished working on Riekert and Iza’s wedding and the photos will be up soon but I wanted to post this shot of Iza’s absolutely incredible wedding dress on it’s own The dress designer is Hans Zerwick

When I arrived at the Feathers guest lodge in Durbanville to shoot Bernadette’s wedding I was absolutely blown away, she looked exactly like a fashion model, in fact I asked if she had modelled and the answer was a very shy “No”

When we got to the venue, Bloemendal (less than 30 minutes from Cape Town) the wind was howling which made it difficult to shoot outdoors.

Inside I’d noticed a few textured walls along with a few rustic winged chairs, I positioned one of the chairs so that the wall was a backdrop and asked Bernadette to take a seat, she looked like a model and I thought I’d take advantage of it.

Some people can pose and some can’t, I’d noticed that even though Bernadette really did not think she could that she indeed could, wow!

Bonnie got married to Carl on New Years Eve, the ceremony was at the St Georges Church (Soms Delta), Franschhoek and the reception was at Vrede en Lust in Simondium (just down the road), a lot of people asked me “who gets married on new years eve??” it’s actually brilliant! Everyone is so afraid to commit to anything on the final day of the year, well that’s what I seem to find with Capetownians anyway

This way there is no doubt about what you are going to be doing and you can get on with having a great party, there is also the fact that there is no way the bride, groom or any of their friends are going to forget the anniversary date either.

Bonnie was with without a doubt the “sparkiest” bride I’ve ever worked with, taking fun photos of her was a matter of pointing the camera in her direction.

When ever possible I try shooting wedding styled fashion when the situation allows and my brides are into it! I loved Bonnie’s dress and asked her to strike a pose in the Vrede en List Manor house doorway, a few flashes added and moments later we had the shot

I’ve been getting a little pressure from Iza’s family to show more photos, well here you go…. gorgeous!!!!
