Bridesmaids to confuse evil spirits?

Evil spirit? Call a bridesmaid!

The origin of bridesmaids is actually pretty strange. In ancient times, in Rome, they were required to dress just like the bride so as to confuse evil spirits. Groomsmen originated for the same reason. Sounds like a script in the making for a teen sci-fi movie.

In China, bridesmaids were required to accompany the bride for protection and disguise. Since the bride also brought a dowry, (an amount of property or money brought by a bride to her husband on their marriage) this made them vulnerable to theft and even kidnapping. As you guessed they were all required to dress just like the bride too, more confusion.

Super Power = Bridesmaid!

The bridesmaids were required to protect her as well and they would also act as decoys, that's dedication. Unsuspecting thieves might steal the wrong "bride" only to find, their victim had no dowry at all. Poor bridesmaid!

Combat and or wedding photographer!

This got me thinking, I could have been a combat photographer wearing a bulletproof vest. At least in the first part of the wedding. Given that I'll try anything at least once, I'd like to give that a go... As long as ISIS isn't involved.

I know I'm on my own here, so let's just stick to love, happiness, and good times. But hey, if you do need a combat slash wedding photographer you know where to find me.
