How to do a Yacht Proposal in Cape Town.

Are you looking for proposal ideas in the South Africa? What about a yacht proposal in Cape Town? Mohammed decided that's what he wanted to do with Bongiwe, he gave me a call telling me his plan. The trick was, he wanted a photographer to surreptitiously capture it. Not only was I able to capture the entire event, but I also shot video.

Bongiwe was blown away!

When Mohammed popped the question and handed over the ring, Bongiwe was blown away, I loved seeing how she turned toward him, melting with joy as she realised what he was up to.

Charter: Luxury Yachts Cape Town
Yacht: Topaz

Here's how I could capture photos and even video of the event.

  • Don't forget the ring!
  • Book the cruise!
  • Book your photographer... me!
  • Enjoy each other, the professionals will take care of you!
  • First, I contacted Cara from https://www.luxuryyachtcharters.co.za she was amazing.
  • The STORY - Greg is with us for today, he is shooting "promotional video" for the yacht.
  • On the couple's arrival: I introduced myself to the couple, making sure not to Acknowledge Mohammed. We "Had Never Spoken" before. ;-)
  • I made a point of shooting lots of scenery around the boat.
  • Discretion, I shot on a long lens where I could; I didn't want to get in their faces and let the cat out of the bag.
  • Every now and again I'd ask them if they wouldn't mind being in a photo.
"Do you mind if we use your pictures on the yacht's website?" See how I did that?
  • VIDEO: for the video I used a DJI OSMO POCKET and a clamp, I could clamp the Osmo onto different railings throughout the duration of the cruise. The video and stabilization out of this teeny little gadget is incredible!!

The Sunset Proposal!

For the proposal, we waited for sunset. I asked them if they wouldn't mind me taking a photo of the two of them. I assured Bongiwe it would be amazing and I'd be sure to make sure they go the photo! Mohammed had given me the ring earlier so Bongiwe couldn't see anything unusual on him.

I told them I wanted them to look into the sun, positioning Mohammed behind her. That's when I slipped him the ring. I stepped back and let it happen.

What a fantastic moment! Bongiwe melted!

I'd like to say thank you to Ben the Captain and Carla who were amazing. I'd highly recommend them both if you're interested in a gorgeous luxyr yacht cruise in Cape Town.
